ABOUT ME

How I came to be a Jewellery maker

Trees have always been my passion. I love to walk among them, especially in the ancient forests with all their magnificence and glory. I love to lose myself and become one with nature to forget about the stresses and strains of the world we live in. Trees and forests have always given me a sense of security and belonging. I also love the difference sounds coming from the birds, insects and the wind whistling through the trees, I find it very comforting and peaceful.

I feel we have all become unattached with nature, through no fault of our own, but through a steady progression of control and greed, but that's another story...

Wood has always been a passion of mine, I am always drawn to things made from solid wood, with its warmth and of course, its naturalness.

I hate the plastic world we have become, too many things are so unnatural these days, which in my option, goes against the grain!

I specialise in Burr/Burl wood as I love the natural patterns it forms, It is a piece of art in its own right.

There is a special kind of energy that comes from trees & wood, I believe it to be one of the most magical and abundant gifts on this earth.

I love every minute of making wearable art from wood. Some of my designs are made incorporating wood and gemstones together to create one of a kind jewellery. Gemstones are another great gift from nature, they have magical powers (healing energy and vibrations) in each kind.

All of my jewellery is made with love and great care is taken. If you understand about energy and vibrations, then you will know that my creations are not just any Jewellery that has been mass produced with no story behind it, but one that has good vibes instilled into each piece.

My drive for new ideas is never ending...

My Journey & Mission

As well as creating one of a kind jewellery and learning more about the many different avenues of jewellery making. I also want to inspire others through my journey, as I firmly believe that we are ALL born with a gift!

How my journey of jewellery making started

I began making Jewellery as a hobby back in 2013, by making necklaces from the off cuts from my ex partners wood turning projects, normally it would have gone in the fire as scrap, until one day I picked up a piece of oak burr wood that was lying on the floor, the pattern within the wood drew my attention, it also had natural cracks in it, I asked him to make it into a circle for me on his lathe, I bought some Turquoise gemstone and filled in the cracks, sanded and polished it and attached a leather cord. He took a photo and put it on Facebook, people loved it, some of his friends even wanted one made, and that is where my journey began...

I never knew I could be creative and never thought in a million years I would be a jewellery maker, this is the reason why I now believe everyone is born a creator, even if they don't know it yet!

My inspiration comes from nature and other like minded people. I would also like to inspire others, especially those that are suffering with an illness/disability, the down trodden, the depressed, the hopeless, those who think they have nothing to offer in this dog eat dog world.

This is very close to my heart due to one of my close family member's mental health, disabilities and illness, who has basically given up on life because they do not believe in themselves enough to try to overcome the obstacles that they have been dealt, yet they are very talented & creative.

I hope one day they will overcome their disbelief in themselves and be the person they were born to be...

My Motto

"If they can do it, then so can I"

This is what I tell myself often

Just start with what you love. Some times you might not know what you love until you start doing it. Search for it inside yourself, there will be something that you have always wanted to do but never believed you could do it. The first step is overcoming that disbelief.

You might fail many times before you get something right, but try try again and you will get there. Just start believing in yourself and find what you love to do, even if you are only able to do an hour a day or a few days a week.

I know this can be achieved because I have done it myself. I also have a disability and have suffered  with, at times, a very debilitating illness. I have had M.E for the last 25 years. I will never let it stop me from doing the things I love, but it does limit the amount I can do in any one day as I have to pace myself. I do not work at weekends either, as I need to recharge my batteries, ready for the week ahead.

"Never give up, and start believing in yourself, even if others don't"
